AEROSMITH Guitarist Discusses Guitar Collection, Upcoming Tour
May 19, 2009AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry spoke to MusicRadar.com's Joe Bosso this week about his guitar collection, work on his solo record and the band's upcoming tour with ZZ TOP. Joe also talked about his favorite Gibson guitar, Billie, a customized BB King Lucille model that has his wife Billie's visage painted on its maple top.
"Billie is a beautiful instrument," said Perry. "First off, it's a BB King 'Lucille' guitar. We've made a few alterations, and of course it has a stunning picture of my wife on it. She's gorgeous, the guitar is gorgeous — how can I not look good playing it?"

In a new interview with EW's Music Mix, Perry inadvertently let slip that the band's new album might be a Wal-Mart exclusive, like AC/DC's "Black Ice" and THE EAGLES' "Long Road Out Of Eden".
According to Perry, the band is frustrated that despite Perry's need for knee surgery and singer Steven Tyler's pneumonia, they haven't finished their new album in time. "This is about the third time I've had to make excuses why the record isn't out," Perry told EW. "You line everything up just right: Brendan O'Brien producing, Wal-Mart and Sony screaming for the record, tour coming up, and there's no record. We're still in shock that it's not happening."
